Breadsticks

  • 1 T. yeast
  • 2 T. sugar
  • 1 1/2 C. warm water
  • 1 T. oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 1/2 C. flour

Toppings:

  • Melted butter
  • Coarse sea salt
  • Italian Seasonings
  • Parmesan cheese

  1. Mix the yeast, sugar and water and let sit for a couple of minutes to dissolve the yeast. Add the oil, salt and flour and knead by hand or with your mixer with a dough hook for about 5 minutes.
  2. Cover and let rise until double.
  3. Divide dough into about 10 equal parts.
  4. Lightly flour your hands and roll the dough into long, thin breadsticks.
  5. Place on lightly greased and cornmeal-sprinkled 9x13 inch pans (two pans)
  6. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and let them rise until doubled.
  7. Brush liberally with melted butter and sprinkle lightly with seasonings, cheese and salt.
  8. Bake at 375 for about 15- 20 minutes or until just golden.
  9. Serve warm with spaghetti or lasagna and tossed green salad for a yummy yummy dinner! This makes enough for probably 6 to 8 people. I usually half the recipe for us.
