Apple Pie Oatmeal

Photo from familyfeedbag.com
We've been eating oatmeal for breakfast daily for a few months now. This was a fun variation on it, and was perfect for a cold winter morning, plus it makes the house smell heavenly! Shaun prefers this without the nutmeg, but I am a big fan of lots of spice.

  • 1 apple, cored and chopped (skins on)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup quick cooking oats
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Dash of salt
  1. Bring the water and chopped apple to a boil in a small saucepan.
  2. Mix oats, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in a bowl. When the water comes a boil, add the oats, apple, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Adjust heat to low and simmer for 3-4 minutes while stirring.
  4. Serve it with a splash of milk and a little (or a lot) of brown sugar sprinkled on top. Mmm!
I got this recipe from here.
