Christmas Truffles

http://allrecipes.com/Cook/10843473/Profile.aspx

My mom always makes treats to take to the neighbors at Christmastime, and ever since I can remember, I loved to help. I made these for the Christmas plates when I was a young teenager, and was shocked and pleased to hear that they were a hit! They're rich and delicious and incredibly easy!

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 3 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 3 cups semisweet chocolate or milk chocolate chips, melted
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Directions

In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Gradually beat in confectioners' sugar until well blended. Stir in melted chocolate and vanilla until no streaks remain. Refrigerate for about 1 hour. Shape into 1 inch balls. Store in the refrigerator.

Footnotes

  • Roll truffles in toasted ground walnuts (or any ground nuts), cocoa, coconut (you can toast the coconut if you'd like), confectioners' sugar, candy sprinkles, etc. or dip in melted chocolate.
  • To flavor truffles with liqueurs or other flavorings, omit vanilla. Divide truffle mixture into thirds. Add 1 tablespoon liqueur (like almond, peppermint, orange) to each mixture; mix well.
